What do you do at Roadhouse?
In my role as UI artist at Roadhouse. Part of what I do is create a rough visual comps of the screens in our products to provide a style and direction for the product. It also involves working with the designers to refine the UI flow and components on each screen to provide satisfying user experience. When all of that is set, I begin working with the engineers to implement the art in the game.
What makes working at Roadhouse different from anywhere else?
I like the atmosphere here at Roadhouse with the open studio layout, the location and the fantastic talented people.
On weekends, I love to…
On the weekends I just like to spend time with my family and our dog. When the weather is nice, we like going on hikes, relaxing at the beach and playing all types of sports like golfing, tennis, hockey, soccer and cycling. We balance this out with Smash Bros on the couch.
What do you do at Roadhouse?
As the Director of Finance at Roadhouse, my day to day role is best described as that of an accountant. I am a Chartered Accountant and work on preparing various tax filings for the Roadhouse group. I prepare financial reports for decision making, such as financial statements, and I prepare reports to analyze the allocation of resources to our games.
What makes working at Roadhouse different from anywhere else?
The culture here at Roadhouse is what distinguishes it from other companies I have worked for. Roadhouse is a liberal, eclectic group with common goals. I think differences in opinion and perspective are highly valued here and discussions that ensue from those differences are used to find the best path forward. We have a diverse group and that is a great strength. When decisions are made here that will affect the Roadhouse culture, we take care and think about who we are and what we want to be.

What do you do at Roadhouse?
In my role as a Senior Designer at Roadhouse, it’s my job to plan, create and discuss the overall design for a project in collaboration with other members of the team. That usually involves a lot of documentation, prototyping and iteration on game mechanics over the course of pre-production and development, as well as being involved in the design processes established throughout the studio.
What makes working at Roadhouse different from anywhere else?
Roadhouse has grown a lot since I started here in 2013 but there’s still a great small-studio culture here, which makes it easy to meet and make new friends. There’s a lot going on at any one time as we’re working on a number of projects at once, and although everyone is on different teams there’s a really healthy social culture of meet-ups, game nights, and other extra-curricular events that brings us together often.
On weekends, I love to…
I try and get out to explore when the weather is nice, hang out with friends and sample some of Vancouver’s amazing craft beer. Sometimes Vancouver’s weather calls for something different however, and on days better spent indoors I tend to end up board-gaming with friends, seeking out the nearest ramen restaurant or conducting serious ‘research’ on my massive backlog of videogames.
