This is the first post in a series of Carnage developer blogs. In this installment, game director Kayla Kinnunen talks about herself, and the Carnage team!

Oh, hi there!

I’m Kayla Kinnunen and I’m the Game Director on Warhammer 40,000: Carnage.

Carnage is an action platformer set in the 40k universe coming to tablet and mobile devices later this year. Back in September 2013 we brought an early build of the game to Games Day in Birmingham, England. There, we met with a whole bunch of Warhammer 40,000 fans and listened to what they thought of the game. The experience at this event was incredible and watching excited 40K fans play Carnage, got us so energized. Since then we’ve been hard at work making the game and we can’t wait to show you more.

I’ve been making games professionally for about 14 years now but Carnage is definitely the most exciting project I’ve had the pleasure of being involved with. It’s a cliche, but I fell in love with games back in the NES era on Super Mario Bros and Mega Man. I grew up on the Super Nintendo with Super Metroid, Final Fantasy, and Castlevania. My most beloved games were either platformers or RPGs which makes it so incredibly exciting that I’m able to infuse these genres into Carnage.

To help me we have an incredible team on this project with a lot of industry experience and significant love of Warhammer 40,000. We play the tabletop at the office and our artists have hand painted some of the most detailed models I’ve ever seen. A number of our designers, programmers and artists have also made Warhammer 40,000 games before having worked at Relic on Dawn of War and Dawn of War II.

We all love the game we’re making, and we can’t wait for you to love it too!
