The Roadhouse team is extremely experienced, so our staff has many varied and interesting perspectives that would be hard to find elsewhere. It’s great to work with people who inspire you to work at a higher level than you thought you were capable of.
If you want to work at Roadhouse, prove that you can learn from your mistakes. Be able to articulate what decisions you’ve made in the past that were wrong, why they were wrong, and what you should have done to be more successful. It’s in understanding your failures that you can form better plans.
It’s easy to wake up in the morning and come to work at Roadhouse knowing people have a relaxed and friendly attitude. It doesn’t mean that we don’t work hard though. We collaborate and everyone has a voice. Rather than working in silos, it really feels like a team effort.
Interested in joining us? Aaron’s advice is to relax. We are a pretty easy going group. Show us what you’ve got. It’s important to be invested in what you want to do. We are all passionate people and want that to show in our work.
The typically smaller team sizes at Roadhouse means being able to work on more aspects of the game, and learn new skills. On large teams, developers are more likely to stick to one type of work, but here we are encouraged to contribute however we can – on my current project I have been not just animating, but also rigging, building state machines, and even coding some enemy behaviours. Roadhouse is home to many talented people willing to share their passion and their knowledge, making it a great place to learn!
The advice for people applying to work at Roadhouse is to love what you do, and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone!
